Endodontics (Root Treatment)

Endodontics, better known as root canal treatment, is a branch of dentistry directly linked to the pain of teeth that have suffered some type of trauma or who have advanced cavities.

Inflammation or infection in the dental pulp (tissue full of small nerves located inside the tooth) causes hypersensitivity to pressure, temperature variations, in addition to spontaneous pain (that which occurs independently of stimuli external), all distributed on an evolutionary scale that depends on the severity of the disease. In case of cavities, a type of opening through which bacteria enter that end up causing the infection. When there is a strong knocking of the teeth, due to some accident or sports practice, the tissue that forms the pulp suffers damage and may have the majority of its cells dead.

Treatment consists of cleaning the canal and removing contaminated or dead tissue, cleaning the internal walls with instruments and “washing” the canal with a suitable solution that prevents the proliferation of bacteria. After this process, the tooth is restored through obturation. Everything is done under the effect of local anesthesia.

In case of pain or suspected cavities, the dentist should be sought immediately, the sooner the problem is resolved, the greater the chances of treatment success. Once the infection reaches the bone, there is a possibility of the problem recurring.

Root canal treatment is performed in our clinic by the DR. BRUNO FRIGNANI CRO-SP 105924, Endodontist (Specialist in treatment of Channel). General Practitioner, graduated from FOUSP (Faculty of Dentistry of the University of São Paulo) and registered with CROSP as specialist in ENDODONTICS by ABO.
